Scribe For Regis/ Vanessa Degen's Run No:1527

I came to the runsite ( Bertam Ulu ) half an hour earlier and VJ was directing to change the runsite by extending 200 meters
further in with the reason that there would not have enough space for parking at the original scheduled spot. At the same time, cohare
Red Cow was busy calling the Grandmaster. " What am I going to do with this silver head fellow busy changing my runsite ?" Perhaps
VJ was right, the hare Red Bull forgot that we needed parking space.
In the history of MH3, this was the first case that a hare broke her ankle while doing recce, and she came back with a new bionic leg
to lay the run. Good sportsmanship and hashmanship, a on down to her! This was also the most expensive recce ever occured
to a hare, the repair cost of her leg was RM 3000.
Thinking that Red Bull is one of the fastest runners in the MH3, and looking at the bionic leg of the Red Cow, I had better
with the exception rather than a rule entered the run 20 mins earlier as most of the hashers were expecting a very long run.
The run started with ascending a slope and entering a forest path and got into rubber plantations, oil palm estates, open spaces,
and many ravines. At one area, the slope was steep and the surface was spread with lots of pebbles, gravels, and pieces
of rocks making the place very slippery and I could see Sam sliding most of the time. One could realise how Red Cow's ankle was
broken after experiencing the run.
Half way along the run, Wong Sin Sang was calling me from the back. I was surprised to see that he was at the back. " When did
you come? never saw you at the runsite ? " " Oh! I came late, well after six " " How come you are that fast! " " I know how
to avoid the unnecessary ravines! " Wong Sin Sang, the king of SCB since day one, and a professional backpacker with a very good sense of direction
really knew how to cut corners. So, to make a long story short, I also followed him in the end though we were still intact with the pack all the time
but less trouble and problem. With him, there wasn't any more checks. So, other than the first two checks, I really
did not know how many checks there after.
It was a false alarm and the run was actually very reasonable. It probably would take one hour or so for an average runner to complete
the run. Back to the run site, the beer wagon wasn't there. Everybody was waiting impatiently for the arrival of our " blood ",
the beer wagon, and a riot was going to happen. Far away, Josep's motorbike was seen coming with a pillion rider behind. The bike
arrived, jumped down our hash cash, Maureen steam above her head, " the hare need to be Fxx , there was no hash sign outside
to show the runsite ", obviously she couldn't find the runsite. " But, everybody found no problem to reach here except you! "
defended by Red Bull. The beer wagon was still missing, tension started to build up. Alas!, the beer wagon finally arrived,
Biggles, near dying of thirst, quickly protected the big drinks ice bucket, like an Australian bush turkey protecting her nest of eggs,
chasing everybody out of scene. hashers were taken aback. Rake, rake, rake and finally she raked out a 100plus for herself,
only after she had quenched herself, the rest were then allowed to touch the beer, oh the beer!, that was the best gulp
of beer I had ever had.
Hash circle was formed, usual ritual of " on down " sitting on ice was performed. After that, all adjourned to the Golden Coast
Restaurant for on on. Four tables were fully occupied, with some more " on down " going along. This was the restaurant we had
our "On On " before and we watched the tragic incidence of 9 11 on television in the same restaurant and the hare then was Red
Bull too. It was about 10pm that the party was called off. The food was good and the bill was footed by the hares.
Verdict: This was a superb run and on on, and salute to the sportsmanship of our bionic woman, the Red Cow.
A big " Thank You "to the hares,
