A Kiasi Run

Chinese New Year Run 2006

Some Unforgettable Moments      -------     By Kiasi

The CNY Run was set at Water City Resort, Bukit Katil. There is a space for parking of cars at the inner part, away from the on-going traffic at the main road. This long forgotten runsite is now a residential area with huge condominium marked by a real life 15th century battleship. It was fringed with beautified trees and flower plants and stood like a bastion amidst the hassling.

Having a dry spell for the past week, the water- clogged terrain was relatively arid. Sound of the running water from the stream behind the trees could be heard. Paper trail was cleared by the use of parang and false trail was laid to the swamp. There was a moment when Drugbuster stepped onto a heap of cow dung and was tailed by our laughter.

There was then a thundering sound of a gun shot following by another from a distance. A hunting trap to poach wild boar can be found. It was a loop acted as a trap door so that the animal is stuck while squeezing through. Seems that what’s being womanish was dispelled and there can be a fresh start.

A hill slope was planted with a parade of creepers having shoots shaped like Aloe Vera. It is served by the Malay as a vegetable dish. The creeper poles stood like a sea of sentinels. If there is a name, it should be called ‘dayu’.

The site is now opened up for a new road running at the side of hill down the field of farmland. A drain with murky water will have a bridge to cross and the large area of wild vegetation will be cleared away for utilities.

At the Circle, Sharpshooter and Vigraman, the Hares, had an On Down with new plastic piss pots. It was another version of ‘Fear Factor’ depicted in the TV show.

On On in L.T.P. Restaurant was warmly greeted by the members for its grand setting. The food was the best we ever had and the Nyonya sauce Jenak fish was savoury in taste. Vigraman sang a Chinese number ‘Pawns in thy Game’ and members were immersed in the various Karaoke singing. Beerman Mah received a big ‘Ang Pow’ and members got 7 hampers in the Lucky Draw.

This year we obtained an extra 5 crates of beer from the sponsor. There was plenty of beer to go round and the thoughts of the brain were evaporated even if they were not spoken. And we take up a hash song :

Lim Lim Lim, Lim Lim Lim

            Lim liao kor chai Lim

Lim Lim Lim, Lim Lim Lim

            Lim liao kor chai Lim

with the tune of “Jingle Bell”
