I reached the run site at 3.30pm. It was at a piece of vacant land about the size of two football fields next to a concrete
blocks manufacturer. There are a few quarry mines around the area. Plenty of parking space with well prepared lighting facility
inside the nearby rubber plantations. Many hashers had already arrived. They came by car load and bus load. The organizer
announced that the attendance was 1200 which was expected. However, the weather was very threatening, heavy dark cloud was
seen to gather around as it had been heavy pouring the last few days in Melaka. Few actually bothered about it as rain or
shine, flood or earth quake, the hashers must go on.
By visual scanning, one could immediately feel that it would be a good bash as plenty of food were prepared, beer free
flowing, and the excellent hifi system quickly and easily made one in a happily anticipating mood. It was also a time to catch
up with old buddies. The program was started on time at about 4pm. After the speeches of the VIPs, the warm up exercise was led by aerobic dancing of 8 pretty HAA girls who really
did a very good performance and had warmed us up from head to toes. Adralin going for most of the hashers, and "on On ", the
run was flagged off at about 4.45pm.
For HAA, hill climbing is their favorite so a tough climb was unavoidable. The dark cloud was getting thick and a heavy
downpour looked imminent. We are the hashers and nothing could stop us. The ascent started immediately when we passed by Mega
Quarry. For certain reason, some sweepers blocked the way and directed us to turn left and the ascent got steeper. The lucky
thing after this was that the rain never happened all the way and that provided a cool environment for the ascent. However, the
trail appeared to be slippery due to the early rain. Altogether, we did climb over three hills and at each vantage point, the
view was spectacular.
It took us about one hour or so to get over the three hills and soon we reached a point where the sweepers were showing two
exit points, left for the short run, ( i.e 3km to home ) and right for the long run ( i.e 6 km to home ). All opted to go
left. I was hesitating, by then, Tailor Khoo, and Chan of Kluang H3 caught up. The sweeper said that it was downhill all the
way. The day was still young, what the heck, so three of us went for the long run. It was a good decision as the view was very
beautiful during the descent, and the good long stretch of road running through the oil palm plantations really made us
feel very refreshing. It was dark by the time we came out. It was almost 7.30pm. Perhaps, we missed some parts of the program,
however, it was important that the food was plenty, beer free flowing and nothing essential was amiss.
The Show Time was the climax of the night. a troupe of dancers cum singers from KL made the night. The performance was top class;
the crowd was in an ecstasy state most of the time. The hot music was strong and powerful. The hot pretty girls on stage were
inviting. Many a time, the audience climbed up the stage and wanted to join with the lady performers. I really took my hat off to
the heavy weight champion of HAA, acting as a bouncer without fear or favour, pulling people one by one down and that included their
own Grand Master. I did not know when the party was over, however I left at 11.00pm.
Verdict: This was a piece of world class hashing organization. Run site was excellent with plenty of parking space. Lighting
facility was excellent. Plenty of delicious food and beer free flowing; I went a number of rounds and the guys did not seem to stop chopping the roasted pork. Dispensing of food
and drinks were properly controlled such that there was little wastage or abused. The entertainment show time was very good.
I reckon the organising Chairman and his team has done an excellent job. The bash was a success and everybody did enjoy it.
Thank You!
