At the invitation of the Grandmaster Denis Parker, I flew from Perth to attend this unique Malacca Joint Run 09. The run is named as the Malacca Hashloween Joint run 2009. Halloween is a kind of ghost festival of the West, similar to the Chinese lunar seventh ghost month of the year. The East treats the ghost month rather seriously; a lot of taboos to be avoided during the month whilst the West has more fun with the ghost month. It is the ingenuity of the Gm and the committee to create such an innovative run which perhaps is one of the kind that Malacca hashers never experienced before.
The run site was chosen at the Orna Golf Resort, Gapam and the on on party was also held at the club house. One stop point for all.
The run started at 4.30pm after all the goodies had been distributed. It was a moderately long run, about 10 km which included crossing a chest deep water level stream. It was drizzling and the run was pleasant.
Hash circles was done with the usual ritual; sitting and lying on ice, and ended at about 8.00pm.
Party time started at about 8.30pm and it was a fantastic party with the MH3 own band boys and singers; the well prepared hashers with elaborate halloween costumes presented a unique atmosphere. free flowing beer, delicious dinner, excellent performance,lucky draws and dancing along all the night.
Verdict: a very good run, and excellent party. Well done, and congratulations to the GM and the committee and a big thank you.
