Light drizzling had stopped by the time I reached the run site. It was the same run site that GM had his run not very long ago.
Anyway the enthusiastic hashers had already gathered around and the early birds slowly entered one by one into the bush. Again, the GM
was not in sight and most of us entered the bush before six as nowadays the length of the trail is unpredictable and the day is getting short.
We had to jump cross a stream before the start of a uphill run. The terrain of the rubber plantation was pretty good and there were
nice laterite paths to do a comfortable run until we reached a ravine. We met Inchibawa and Kai Fun who were making a return.
" What happen? " we asked. " Oh, no we do not feel comfortable! " was the answer from Kai Fun. Maybe they still could not get
rid of the fear of the run last week.
We reached the first check just right in front of a barbed wire fence and so it was obvious that either left or right was the direction!
Biggles caught up wearing a red Parka. " What happen? feeling cold? " " Oh, no, it rains and stops in interval, scare catching cold lah! ".
We heard the "On On " shouted from the left, and the pack soon followed the direction. It was a good run all the way going through
the rubber and the oil palm plantations at times on undulating grounds. The false trails were patched up by the time I reached there,
and it was comfortable until we reached a dry deep ditch of 6-7 feet in depth where the curse and swear started. Dr Dave and
Visva caught up with us and Visva somehow had sprained his big toe and was limping. Poor guy! anyway the orthopaedics was with
him and he should be well taken care of.
After climbing up from the ditch, I kept running but the front runners had all disappeared. Dr Dave and Visva were too slow because
of Visva's injury and so I was running solo all the while. Suddenly, feeling some heavy foot steps trailing behind me and thinking
it could be some kind of animal. a cow or wild cat, I looked back. Oh, it was Alister of KL dashing pretty fast towards me. Had
to let him overtake, and no way I could run with him! Soon I was back to solo run again, and some how the hares had lost the sense
of direction and I felt that I was running round in circle. It was getting dark but luckily there were plenty of papers laying
with good spacings. Somehow, there is always a fear whenever you are running solo in the plantaions, and bushes. Alas, I soon
reached the charcoal factory which was familiar. It was because that was the entry point in the last GM's run. After that, it
was a comfortable run until I reached back to the run site. Everybody was out except Dr Dave and Visva. That took quite a while
for them to finally return.
GM was not around and so the JM Vijai took over to perform the ritual, the hash circle. The MH3 judiciary system became suspicious! In spite of his toe injury, Visvs
was put to sit on ice. Utom was put on ice too. However, the hare, Pecker escaped from sitting on ice in spite of not laying his run. He was in Johore
Bahru when Anita and Cohare Lee Sen Fatt were working hard to lay the papers. To add the insult to the injury, the hashers were
told to make a circle and shake hand and Kow Tow to the non working hare, Pecker the Great. I think a board of enquiry should be
set up to investigate this discrepancy.
Biggles was at certain part of the hash circle asked to say something in view of the absence of the GM. She just went up to the
box and said " Something! ", and stepped down. Of course the pack would not agree and she had to fulfill the request. She went
up and suddenly, the usually eloquent speaker and ex-Boeing 747 commercial pilot became tongue-tied and camera shy like a school girl.
" Go away! " waving to me and I can't remember whether she had said anything or not. Perhaps, behind every successful woman, there is a man,
and the woman loses confidence if the man is not around! Finally, Vijai quickly ended the hash circle and by then everybody was
looking forward for the food and drinks at the Seafarer Restaurant.
On on was at the Seafarer restaurant. four tables were fully occupied with extreme quietness. The hashers got bored and
some of them helped to sing a birthday song for the neighbouring table. I even forgot I carried a camera, and so not many
pictues were taken. Finally the well dressed GM suddenly appeared from somewhere, then the usual hash bash revitalised. one
by one was called up to have on down and of course the usual hash songs followed. That lasted up till 11.00pm.
Verdict: It was a very good run well set by the hare and cohare; good paper strips laid on with good spacings. Four tables
of food were on the hares and in addition, three bottles of beer were provided FOC per table. A big " thank You " to the hares!
