Scribe For Deepavali Celebration Run No:1506
Deepavali is a festival where Indian people from all age groups participate. They give expression to
their happiness by lighting earthen "diyas" (lamps), decorating the houses, bursting firecrackers and inviting near and dear ones to their households
for partaking in a sumptuous feast. The lighting of lamps is a way of paying obeisance to god for
attainment of health, wealth, knowledge, peace, valor and fame. The condense of such description is
designed on the T shirt given to you after the run.
For Malacca H3, traditionally this event has been organised and supported by the members of the Indian
descent, and members are expected to have a sweaty run, spicy food, plenty of beer and a big party.
The road sign was pretty good and one had no difficulty to reach the run site by following the instruction religiously.
The run site was commendable. It was spacious, free from highway traffic hazard and should be a standard for any future run
site set up.Unfortunately, the VIPs of the mismanagement team were all late, GM, JM, were late and other
Jms were still laying papers inside. With the absence of leadership, one by one the mob started to enter the run.
I managed to snap a photo of two matsallehs, one China man, and one precious Indian lady, Sukminderjit Kuar
to symbolise the start of the Deepavali Celebration run!
About 45 hashers turned up for this run and the weather was cool after apparently a heavy rain. The run started along the main highway but quickly we had to make
a left turn and enter the kampung areas, through rubber and oil palm estates, nothing really very exciting but all had to crawl
into two 6 - 7 feet deep ditches. Most of the trails were tarred or laterite lanes. At times, it made the runners
feeling like doing an Indian dance, turning into the main road then back to estate lanes then back to the main road again,
too many twists and turns--bra bra bra---. Anyway, I had no complaint as I like this kind of comfortable and safe road run. The run ended
in one and half hour covering probably a 8 km distance. A T shirt was given for each hasher who completed the run. That gave us a good
sweat and after that GM performed a few " sitting on ice" "On down " rituals to the guests, hares and websitekang
with whatever reasons he could coin out.
The "On On " was held at the Malacca Indian Association and the food was good and spicy and the beer free flowing
with our own hash band performing real good music! Party was on and dancing, singing, flirting around and
"On Down " performance continued until probably midnight. The grandmaster of Orang Gila chipped in at the eleventh hour
to deliver an invitation of a joint run which would be held on the 13th December. I left at about 10.30 pm as I anticipated
a hectic day ahead.
A big thank you to our Indian members who put up a great effort to make this event memorable;T shirt
is beautiful, food was good and spicy, beer free flowing and entertainment fantastic!
