Congratulations to the Batang Hash House Harriers, Melaka for the job well done for their 23rd Batang Hastory Celebration Run!
It is almost unbelievable that a club of about 70 members could successfully carry out such a big project that attracted the participation of not only the local hash house harriers, but also HHH from places as far as Japan,Indonesia, Brunei, Sabah, Sarawak, and Singapore.
A total of about 800 hashers turned up for these two days of solid bash where runs were interesting, food provided, beer free flowing, entertaining non stopping, and on top of that two T shirts, a bag, and a small foldable stool were given for each hasher.
Well done, Batang HHH Melaka!
From the GM and Mismanagement Committee of
Malacca Hash House Harriers.
24 members of the Malacca Hash House Harriers had the opportunity to participate the two days events of the Batang HHH Hastory Celebration run, and below is the scribe for the two events.
First day ( 23rd August )- the cold and wet treatment -
By 4.30 pm a pack of 800 hashers from invited chapters of HHH had already assembled at Auyin Hill Resort, Durian Tunggal, Melaka. As if to add spice to the event, however it started to rain heavily. As hashers, rain or shine, snow or earthquake, the run must go. The G.M. of Batang HHH had to give the speech and initiated the run in the rain. "On On " off we went, and the pack had to rush through the gate to the main road, and after half the km along the side of the main road and off we turned right and enter into the rubber plantation uphill.
Uphill, downhill, rubber plantation, oil palm plantation, slippery terrains, and down to a wide drain, everybody got to cross it soaking wet up to waist height. Finally the rain stopped by the time we reached the edge of the Durian Tunggal catchment area, but the terrain was very slippery and one had to be really careful so as not to be ended in disaster. Finally every one emerged from the back of Auyin Hill Resort through a path of stink, muddy, soaking terrain.
The run was reasonable, and with such weather condition, an average runner could come out probably in 1 1/2 hr or so.
The night was full of fun, food enough for not to be hungry, but beer plenty free flowing, entertainment was intriguely designed,i.e.big tool show, boat race, pondan show, and one would not be bored if one were young enough. Video recording was taken, and those who are interested could probably contact GM James Bond 003 ( contact No: 012 7281622).
Second day ( 24th August )- the hot and humid treatment -
By 10.00am a pack of about 300 hasher had already gathered at the spot near AXA building in Melaka Raya, the city center. The run was started at 10.30am sharp. Contrary to the weather yesterday, the morning was hot and humid. this was a city run which was specially designed for the tourists. The run was about 6km and led everybody to cross the four important bridges of Melaka, from the modern state of the art Melaka Raya bridge to the historical bridges like New Market bridge and Java lane bridge. In between the run, we passed through the oldest Chinese temple, Muslim Mosque, Indian temple, and the St Peter church. passing through the first Cross, Second Cross streets, all the old parts of the city which are actually the tourist attractions of Melaka.
By 12 noon the last runner probably had returned. All adjourned at a nearby Double Ocean Restaurant, where another booze, feast and hash bash carried on. By 1.30pm, hashers bid farewell and Brunei HHH seen busy extending invitation for their celebration sometime next April/May.That is all , On! On!
