Rehashed Run No: 1640; Hares: Pak Sek Kok & Wong Ha Hiong; Date: 30th May, 2006; Venue: Tong Bee Estate at Durian Tunggal.
I reached the run site at about 5.40 pm. A few cars were around, but only JM Dr Ling koon, Tommy Boy and bombastic were present.
I assumed the rest had entered as early birds. Bombastic, just back from the Nash Hash 06 in Sandakan invited me to go in
together. Might as well as I noticed the cohare was none other than Holly Shxt who was an enthusiastic hill climber though I
could trust on Drugbusters' papers.
It was quite a jolly good run as we entered the oil palm plantation of Tong Bee Estate. Bombastic appeared to be energetic as
he just got a good training from Sandakan Nash Hash. Pointing to part of a hill, he said this was nothing compared to the hills
that they had climbed in Sandakan. Soon we reached the first deep over the head ditch, a strong root helped us to get in and out
of it, and we then entered to a rubber estate. It looked like the estate was a mix planting of oil palms and rubber trees.
The terrain was very conducive for running and we really enjoyed it. There were altogether three checks and a false trail. The
checks were not difficult and in fact were quite predictable. Part of the area was water catchment and it would be too
early to return judging from the standard of the hares and cohares, so the check must be on the right hand side looping a big circle.
The only trick we faced was the false trail after the third check. It was a bit unexpected but quickly Mary found the trail
up the hill and from then on it was quite a smooth sailing, as more hashers had caught up making a pleasant company.
The beautiful part of the trail was that it passed over the top of the hill, and the spectacular view of the water catchment area
was breathtaking. Though coming down the hill could be a pain in the arse affair especially one had to crawl in and out of those
deep ditches.
Finally we were back to the run site at about 7.30 pm roughly making it a 1 hour forty minutes run. Towards the end of the
run, most scbs took an easy way out by cutting short to the runsite however, Carol, Sampah Bui and I insisted to follow papers
and it was really a very long stretch of good running. The hash circle was a brief
one which was conducted by the JM Dr Ling Koon. Soon after that all adjourned at the Yuan Lai Restaurant at Machap Umbo.
Three tables were fully occupied and the hares acting as hosts and settle the food bills for all in addition to three bottles
of beer for each table. That certainly made everybody happy and all were soaked in the melody of happy birthday songs. The pack
dispersed off at about 9.30pm.
