Rehashed Run No: 1669; Hares: M. Danabalan (Vibrator)/Lynn Denise Holland (Biggles); Date: 19th December, 2006; Venue: Peacock Farm, Durian Tunggal.
It was a rainy day which flooded certain part of Malacca. However, whether rain or tsunami, it was unable to deter the crazy MH3 hashers from having their weekly Tuesday run at a familiar run-site, more so it was the birthday run of ex GM Vibrator and his other half.
As a retiree who was looking forward for a good run and good sweat-out, I arrived early at the run-site which is an abandoned peacock farm with big parking space. Parking there were a few cars which belonged to the hare, co-hares and a few early birds. Very soon, the pack soared to some 30. Among them were Kiasu Lee, Rubbish Bui, Chee Ching Seng, William, Pecker, Denise the Menace, Carol the Twin Towers, Utom Singh, Holly Leong, Helen Lee, Hawaii Goh, Nancy, Sharpshooter, Marion, Maureen, Vigraman and 5 guests from Malacca Full Moon Hash. For reason not known, there was no sight of GM Cocker. Most probably he was caught in the flood.
The run started at 6.00 pm sharp. It was led by ever-energetic runners Pecker, Anpalagan and Denise the Menace by following the paper along the Air Keroh - Durian Tunggal road. They were being closely followed by Utom Singh, Darren and me. Some 100 meters away, the paper turned right into a Malay village where we saw the hare Vibrator and co-hares Bombastic and Wendy resting at the veranda of a house after laying the paper. They were wet from head to toe.
The paper then proceeded along a laterite road for a short distance before crossing the dark and flooded tunnel of North-South Highway. It then proceeded further for another short distance before turning right into the bushy and undulating rubber plantation abreast the said highway where it hit the first check at an open land 20 minutes later. It was a simple check with its connecting paper found in the bush some 100 meters to the right.
The paper continued southward abreast the said highway into another undulating rubber plantation, across 2 deep ditches and a thick bush for another 10 minutes before hitting the second and last simple check at the top of a plantation with young rubber trees. It was at those deep ditches that we showed our hashing spirit by pulling each other’s hand and pushing each other’s bottom across. Of course it would be more fun and enjoyable if a harriet is being pushed! Its connecting paper was found some 150 meters away on the left which led into a short stretch of bushy rubber plantation before hitting a tarred road below a huge water tank on the right. The paper turned left to the home trail. From then on, it was another some 1.5 km of comfortable road run to the run-site. On the way, we met Carol the Twin Towers and Tongkat Ali enjoying their stroll from the opposite direction. We arrived back at the run-site at 6.50 pm where a pack of non runners were gathering around the beer wagon and enjoying their cold beer and drink. Among the front runners were Anpalagan, Pecker, Dennis the Menace and 2 guests. It was a short and sweet challenging run of around 5 km. The last runners were back at 7.15 pm.
Hash circle was jointly conducted by Vibrator and GM Cocker. As usual, the hares, co-hares, 5 guest runners and a few sinners were put on ice and on-downed. It was then that GM Cocker related to us his last minute effort to lay the last run at Machap Baru on 12th December, 2006 as a relief hare with Wendy after being informed of the failure to contact its scheduled hare. Though it was a confused run, it was better than none which would have made the addicted hashers gloomy and groggy. A big salute to you Cocker and Wendy for your good initiative and great effort! In addition, we were also being informed that a farewell dinner for JM Gerard would be held at Seafarer Restaurant in Klebang at 7.00 pm on the coming 23rd December, 2006. Participants were asked to give their names to the On Sec.
On-On was held at Bombastic’s restaurant in Batu Berendam. In attendance were a pack of some 30 hashers. Varieties of mouth-watering spicy Indian food such as tooseh, roti canai, capati, mutton and chicken curry were served with free flowing beer and teh tarik. Once again an on-downed session was held for the sinners. Two birthday cakes which were contributed respectively by MH3 and Darren, Wendy, Darry and Chole were cut by the birthday boy Vibrator who celebrated his 41st birthday with birthday song and toss. In addition, GM Cocker who had been hashing for 26 years, gave a toss to the following veteran hashers with a glass of mixed whisky and tuak drink each for attaining their long years of hashing:

It was memorable night. The food and drink were on the hares. The pack had only begun to disperse at 10.15 pm with full tummy. Happy birthday to you Vibrator and a big thank you to you, hares, for the good run, good food and good drink!
On! On!
