When the “Bus Run “was announced in the last hash circle, some people got excited. “ Bust Run! What type of run is that? Holding breasts to run or what?? “. A bus run is one that the hare will hire a bus and take the hashers to a specific point and run back to the run site, and it is a real challenge for a runner as there is no possibility for SCB and the only way is to run straight back to home.
The On Sec, Chickadee and her partner Hotlink had really put a great effort in putting their run a very memorable one. Being a member of less than a year, Chickadee proves herself to be an ardent hasher. She had helped as a co-hare for so many runs even some veteran hashers were put to shame. Furthermore, this young couple is armed with GPS (Global positioning system), mobile phone technology, digital camera, and laptop for the hashing purpose. One secret to share is that DO NOT ever challenge Chickadee for any alcoholic drinking competition as most of us had witnessed that as big as Dennis the Menace also dropped under her skirt; I mean due to alcoholic effect; nothing further than that.
Thanks to their ingenuity, a bus run was organized. By 4.40 pm, hashers were already gathered at co-hare Killer’s house. They included members from Monday, Thursday and Friday. That was a big crowd as many as some sixty people. The bus took us to some ten kilometer away and dropped us by the side of an oil palm estate and from there everybody had to run back home. The first check was at the bank of a river and after that I found no other checks as the three other checks were joined by the front runners. The trail covered bushes, rubber plantations, oil palm plantations, new highways under construction and tarred terrace nice for road run. According to the measurement of the GPS, the trail was 9 km, and it took us, the last returning batch of hashers; Drug Buster and partner, Kaiser and partner, Tongat Ali and me almost two hours to complete the trail. Hotlinks was kind enough to drive his car and offered to fetch us back at the last portion of the trail. However, we veteran hashers, as solid as a rock declined the kind offer and ran and walked back to home site. We considered it was not honorable to hop into a car like that!
Hash circle was conducted as usual. However, presents were generously given away to those who deserved. Thanks to the GM, and the hares.
The best part of the night was On On at the Straits Settlement Restaurant. Great dinner of six tables was provided by the hares and the thoughtful hares had designed many games which were fun in couple with serving liquors ranging from whisky, Vodka, to some Mexican drink. Laughter was never stopped until the end of the party which was around 11.30pm. Well done Chickadee & Hotlink and thank you very much!
