The run site was at the far end of the Krubong highway if you turned from the Melaka/Alor Gajah highway. It was at the back of
a newly built housing estate. I reached the run site at 5.40pm and the pack was awaiting. The turn out was about thirty partly
due to the fact that some of them still had not recovered from the hangover of the New year or the grief over the tsunami disaster.
Anyway the pack started to move into the rubber plantation lane at about 5.50pm as no one was sure whether the GM or JM would
be in in this festive season. After a while I soon caught up with C S Chee who was walking with Bombastic. " Hey, better run
a bit on this nice laterite road " I signalled. Chee soon follwed me running. Far away we saw a group of hashers moving to a bush
and we went to meet them. " Go away, go away! " said by the hare long Probe. Oh!, the hare together with Mr & Mrs Drug buster
were hiding in the bushes on their return of laying papers. we continued with our running in the rubber plantation, and soon caught
up with Sexy Chan whose sports pants were with two big foot prints at the bottom. " Hey, Sexy Chan, your long pants are inviting
people to smack your bottom. In court, you will be charged of seducing people! " we giggled. " No, they are not hands, but foot prints!"
answered Sexy Chan. " Then, we must use out feet to kick! " said Chee. Sexy Chan just gave a dare-you look. " Ha Ha! " we
quickly ran away.
We soon came to the first check which was not difficult, partly because the early birds already shouted "On On " as soon as we arrived.
we met Ichibawa and Kai Fun on the way back after the first check probably they were worried that they could not make it and had made
a retreat.
The run was quite pleasant mostly on laterite roads in rubber and oil palm plantations and the weather was conducive.
There was a flase trial and a check thereafter although we had to go in and out off two not so deep ditches. Fast runners like Young Man
Tan, GM , Oil Ring Lim soon caught up with us, and only about at 7.30pm we came back to the run site. It was an estimated
8 km run and Young Man Tan clocked in a time of 58 mins.
The hash circle was performed as usual with the sinners and the hare & Co. It was a small circle and the pack soon adjourned
at Siang Yen restaurant. Three tables were fully occupied, but the TNB power tripped and everybody had dinner under the dim
emergency light, minus aircond but the fun never diminished especially jokes master Au Kait was cracking all the jokes and
telling stories of those good old days. It was around 10.30 pm then the power was back, I left at 11.00pm but Au Kait & Co continued.
30% of the food bill was footed by the hare. A big " Thank You " to the hare.
Verdict of the run: very well laid run. It took a fast runner about an hour and an average one 1 1/2 hr to complete. The returned
trail was good such that a vehicle could go in in case need is required.
